As our collection of nicotine pouches grows here at Bluegrass Tobacco, so do the new flavors from the brands we carry. Speaking of new arrivals, ALP just launched its Drifters Collection with five new fruity flavors, including Blueberry Lemonade Ice, Mango Freeze, Island Peach, Lemon Raspberry, and Watermelon Kiwi Ice. We now carry all five in 6mg and 12mg strengths, sold in 5-count boxes. Each tin comes with 20 pouches.

This is a noticeable change from the original ALP lineup. When the brand launched in 2024, its first flavors included Chilled Mint, Mountain Wintergreen, Refreshing Chill, and Tropical Fruit, along with 3mg, 6mg, and 9mg strengths. Drifters is moving further into fruity flavor combinations and adding a stronger 12mg option. ALP also says Drifters uses a different formulation from its regular nicotine pouches, so this isn’t simply five new labels placed on the same product.

Tropical ALP Drifters Flavor Showcase

Nicotine Pouch Flavors Have Come a Long Way

Nicotine pouches weren’t always this interesting in terms of flavor. For years, most of the choices people recognized were traditional options such as wintergreen, mint, cinnamon, coffee, and unflavored varieties. Those flavors are still extremely popular, but the category has expanded considerably as more brands compete for adult nicotine users looking for something different.

That’s where Drifters stands out. Instead of adding another peppermint or wintergreen, ALP went almost entirely in the opposite direction with fruit combinations that sound more like something you’d find in other flavored products. Some are sweeter and tropical, while others combine fruit with an icy or tart finish. The new formulation is another detail worth noting, as ALP Drifters differ from its regular lineup in flavors and moisture.

For us, releases like this also show how quickly the nicotine pouch category keeps changing. We already carry numerous brands here at Bluegrass Tobacco, and every month we see more nicotine strengths, pouch styles, and flavor combinations than ever before.

Author’s Opinion

First and foremost, I’m a smoker. I’m not proud of that, but it is what it is. I’ve been smoking tobacco since 1993, and now that I’m pushing nearly 50, I want to quit more than ever before. At the same time, I don’t want to simply replace one nicotine product with another, so that’s not why I started using nicotine pouches.

For me, it really started because I work indoors in a no-smoking environment. For many years, that was extremely difficult. Once nicotine pouches became popular and easier to find, I finally started using them, and I completely understand firsthand why they’ve become so popular, especially among smokers like myself.

I now use nicotine pouches daily, and I smoke about half a pack of cigarettes per day. However, before nicotine pouches, I was up to around 1½ to 2 packs a day. I can only speak for myself, and I’m not saying nicotine pouches are a smoking-cessation product, but I can say that since I started using them, I smoke considerably fewer cigarettes than I used to.

It took me a while to warm up to them, though. In the beginning, there weren’t nearly as many good flavors available. Most of what I saw was wintergreen, mint, coffee, cinnamon, and other traditional flavors. There’s nothing wrong with those, but they didn’t offer much variety if you preferred something fruity, which I most certainly do.

Nowadays, that’s completely different, as we now have watermelon, peach, berry, mango, citrus, tropical combinations, and plenty of other flavors that simply didn’t exist just a few years ago. That’s what makes these five new ALP Drifters flavors interesting to me. The category finally has enough variety that adult nicotine users aren’t limited to the same traditional choices over and over again.
