Since then a lot has changed since those days, back when people traditionally smoked these cigars. In fact, studies show that only 30% of Dutch smokers actually smoke ‘em as they come; the other 70% are rolling blunts!

However, I would say the real figures are probably more like 85% bud smokers, but then again, I could be wrong. Either way, more people choose Dutch Masters for its natural leaf wrapper, which is then used for rolling the best blunts. That said, 70% to 85% of the tobacco used to make these cigars gets trashed or dumped in a parking lot somewhere. I always found it amazing that ¾ of a product can be discarded and still be profitable; it says a lot about Dutch Masters tobacco leaves!

As for personal experience, I smoked an actual Dutch cigar once, and that’s all it took for me to know that that’s not for me; but when it comes to rolling blunts, I’ve been chiefin’’ for three decades, so I’ve tried every Dutch flavor ever made! Over the years, I can easily share my top 10 favorites, which I think most of you will agree with, although perhaps not in the same order; nevertheless, there’s a favorite flavor for everyone on this list, even if you smoke ‘em straight up, as they’re sold.

Disclosure: You must be 21 or older to purchase tobacco products in the United States, both online and in stores. We don’t promote smoking. If you’re of legal age and already smoke, we respect your decision. However, we also sell tobacco products and we use them too, at the same time, though, we don’t suggest anyone start.

1. Dutch Masters Cigarillos Palma

Palma has a light vanilla profile that’s more subtle than the flavored options but still noticeable. It’s smooth, slightly sweet, and has been one of the most used Dutch flavors for decades. The taste isn’t strong or artificial, which makes it easy to smoke and easy to roll with. It doesn’t clash with the flower, and it doesn’t leave a chemical aftertaste. Palma has always been a go-to because it adds a little something without getting in the way. We also carry Dutch Leaf Palma, which is just as good.

2. Dutch Masters Cigarillos Russian Cream

Russian Cream brings in a soft vanilla and cream flavor with a warm, mellow aroma. The sweetness is smooth and even, without going heavy or tasting fake. The flavor stays consistent from start to finish and fades out clean after the smoke. It works well with most strains and doesn’t throw off the terp profile. For a flavored Dutch that adds character without doing too much, this is one of the most balanced and widely used options.

3. Dutch Masters Cigarillos Grape

Grape carries a stronger fruit flavor and a sweet aroma that hits as soon as the pouch is opened. Once lit, the flavor stays noticeable without turning harsh. It leans sweet but not syrupy, and it blends well with fruity or citrus-heavy strains. The taste is clear from the first pull and holds steady without burning out. If you want a Dutch that brings a stronger flavor, and you already like grape-flavored anything, this one is solid and consistent.

4. Dutch Masters Cigarillos DeLuxe

DeLuxe adds a mild, sweet layer to the tobacco without being a full-on flavored wrap. There’s no fruit, cream, or candy taste—just a smooth, slightly sweet finish that stays light throughout the smoke. It doesn’t fight the flavor of your bud, and there’s nothing left over once you’re done. If Palma feels too plain but you don’t want something strong like Grape or Chocolate, DeLuxe is a middle option that stays clean and easy to pair.

5. Dutch Masters Cigarillos Chocolate

Chocolate has a light cocoa flavor that shows up during the smoke but doesn’t overpower it. It’s not sweet like candy, and it doesn’t taste artificial. The flavor is more earthy than sugary, and it works best with strains that already lean musky or rich. It doesn’t leave a weird aftertaste or get stale halfway through. I wouldn’t call it an everyday flavor, but when I want something different that still keeps things smooth, this one works.

6. Dutch Masters Cigarillos Green

Green has a light herbal flavor that’s less sweet than most of the others. There’s no fruit, no cream, and nothing that lingers after the smoke. It’s a dry, mild profile that works when you want something that won’t compete with the bud. There’s still some added flavor, but it stays in the background. This one’s not as popular as Palma or Russian Cream, but it holds a spot for smokers who want a clean, low-sugar option that still adds a little taste.

7. Dutch Masters Leaf Gold

Leaf Gold uses a thicker tobacco leaf and has a subtle sweet flavor that’s easy to work with. The profile is mild and doesn’t lean into any specific fruit or dessert category. The taste stays even during the session and doesn’t get in the way. It’s not loud or overly sweet, which makes it a solid option when you want something slightly flavored without going bold. The full-leaf format is the only difference here, and the taste stays light from start to finish.

8. Dutch Masters Leaf Tropical

Tropical brings a mix of fruit flavors that show up right away and hang around through the smoke. It’s sweeter than most of the others in this list and more noticeable overall. If you’re into flavored wraps that shift the taste toward something fruity, this one does that. It’s not subtle, and it’s not going to blend with every strain, but if you’re looking to mix things up with a full-leaf wrap and a loud fruit blend, Tropical checks that box.

9. Dutch Cigarillos Blue Dream Fusion

Blue Dream Fusion is one of the strongest-tasting flavors Dutch has released. It leans heavily on artificial berry flavor and has a loud scent from the pouch to the ashtray. The profile is sweet and sharp, and it doesn’t fade quickly. It doesn’t pair well with every strain, especially ones that are already terp-heavy. This is the type of flavor you try once or twice when you want something different, but for regular use, it’s not very flexible.

10. Dutch Cigarillos Java Fusion

Java Fusion brings a bitter coffee flavor that’s bold and sticks around after the smoke. It’s one of the least versatile flavors Dutch makes. The taste cuts through everything, which might work if you’re pairing it with something light, but most of the time it clashes. It’s not smooth, and it’s not sweet. The flavor stays strong from start to finish, which is exactly why it ranks last. Unless you specifically want a dark coffee profile, it’s not worth grabbing.

Only You Can Decide the Best Dutch Masters Flavors

At the end of the day, only you can decide which Dutch Masters flavors are the best. The only way to really know is to try a few or all of the ones that sound good to you. As a regular smoker, I’ve gone through the full lineup. Some stood out, some didn’t, but I gave each a fair try. Without that, I couldn’t rank them the way I do in this post. These rankings are based on my own use and preferences, so take them as one smoker’s take. All Dutch Masters flavors listed here are available at Bluegrass Tobacco and ship nationwide.

My first Dutch Palma, a Blue Dutch, or a Vanilla Dutch, as some used to call it, was back in 1995, which was 84 years after this cigar was first introduced, making Dutch Masters the oldest brand to offer flavored cigars!
